Bill Block
President/CEO
Bill Block assumed the top executive position at BCA in August of 2012. With a background in Economics, Bill’s entire career of 20+ years is distinguished by leadership roles and seasoned experience in the business of healthcare where he has managed two medical device companies in addition to his senior management positions at Baxter, Cardinal Health, and Allegiance.

Jennifer Ficenec
Executive Vice President
Jennifer is responsible for leading the BCA plasma programs and other business development initiatives. Jennifer is a strategic healthcare executive with broad based expertise in business development, marketing, operational leadership, and change management. Jennifer has in depth knowledge of blood banking industry, plasma derived therapy industry, group purchasing organizations and not-for-profit management. Prior to joining BCA, Jennifer held senior leadership positions at Memorial Blood Centers and Group Services for America’s Blood Centers.
Lisa Shaffer
Senior Vice President of Supplier Relations & Business Development
For 12 years, Lisa Shaffer has been establishing relationships and negotiating contracts with suppliers and clients with particular focus on cell therapy companies. Key to the success of these programs is Lisa’s introduction of the company to the membership and support of its integration into blood center operations.
Sam Keith
Senior Vice President of Supply Chain & Business Development
Sam brings more than 20+ years of experience in the health care industry. Prior to joining BCA, Sam worked in medical supply distribution as a national accounts Director along with 5 years in group purchasing with VHA/Provista. Sam’s key roles with BCA will be to provide direction and support of the BCA contracted vendors and supply partners to ensure proper implementation of the contract portfolio and BCA member satisfaction.
Jennifer Kapral
Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing and New Business Development
Jennifer brings more than 13 years of experience in the health care industry to BCA. Prior to joining BCA, Jennifer spent 10 years working at Provista/VHA (now known as Vizient) in multiple account management roles. Prior to that she spent 3 years working at Cardinal Health in medical distribution sales. As the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing and New Business Development at BCA, Jennifer will be responsible for developing and supporting the strategy for national blood contracting, developing a shared service solution and supporting other strategic solutions for BCA members.
Greg Bishop
Vice President of Information Services
Greg Bishop has been with BCA since 2005. He is responsible for our member and partner dashboards, IT architecture, internal systems and reporting, and network security. Greg also acts as a liaison between various business partners and member centers to provide software solutions to BCA’s members. Previous to this position he was a Technology Consultant specializing in accounting and distribution application software as well as database development and reporting.
Marie DeQuattro
Senior Vice President of Finance
Marie DeQuattro serves as the chief accounting executive, responsible for the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls. She manages the accounting services that support group sales, and spearheads the periodic and highly-praised Participant Activity Report (PAR) project, providing financial metrics to individual members
Gary Koehn
Senior Director of Member Contract Compliance
Gary brings more than 20 years of supply chain experience in health care industry to this position. Prior to joining BCA, Gary worked with Group Services for America’s Blood Centers for 6 years in contracting and member services along with 9 years of experience in Group Purchasing with Consorta and VHA. Gary is responsible for contract development and implementation support to ensure proper BCA member implementation and member satisfaction.
Gena Swisher
Senior Director of Cell Therapies & Biologics
Gena works with Cell Therapy and Biologic companies to develop revenue opportunities in this space for our blood center network. She works closely with BCA blood centers to understand their growing capabilities in this market. She also manages the BCA Vendor Qualification Program which is a service provided to both our BCA members as well as suppliers. Gena has over 20 years of business experience in several fast paced markets. Her responsibilities have included negotiations, sales, and management. She has worked in the blood center industry for GSABC and now BCA for ten years.
Board of Directors
BCA is a member-owned organization comprised of over 50 independent blood centers across the United States. Each member-owner is entitled to a seat on the BCA Board of Directors. Non-owner members pay annual dues, do not participate on the Board, but do enjoy all other benefits of membership. BCA also has 5 Purchasing Associates that participate in certain BCA programs.
Comprised of a representative from each of the 30 plus equity owners, the Board is responsible for BCA’s strategy, direction and overall operations.
The Board typically meets three times annually.
